This is my grandpa, who knew that already! 
My grandfather served for his country during the Korean War (will be uploading another picture of his ID tag as proof) and survived. He was a Lieutenant of his platoon during the war.
One of his more hard-to-believe war stories:
He and his platoon were tasked with investigating a possible insurgency several klicks (miles) from their base. Bare in mind that they were fighting in heavy jungles, so it was hard to see anyone. They were walking through a bog in the middle of nowhere when my grandfather stepped on a landmine. It exploded, but he was lucky that it was a dud, though it still went off. The blast was so intense that his right ear drum blew out, making him completely deaf in his right ear. He's still deaf to this day (and you have to be speaking to him on his left, or he won't be able to hear you.)

Overall Vision Originality Technique ImpactWhat a cool/yet frightening story! And your grandfather looks like he has a very brave face to this day! Both my grandfathers were in the wars as well, but both passed before I was born. My great uncle was a WW2 veteran, a nose gunner in a plane. He passed away recently as well. But it makes me happy to know that there are still veterans here today that we can thank for their service, and look up to. And there are those that we can't thank with words, but with emotion and gratitude.
